At the Garden
.
.
The cardinal flower and bottlebrush buckeye are in bloom! Both have striking tubular flowers, which are suited for feeding (and pollination by) hummingbirds, butterflies, and long-tongued bees. Hummingbirds are also said to prefer red flowers. This might be because bees don't see the color red very well, so hummingbirds might choose to get nectar from flowers that haven't been visited by bees.
See you at the garden, Catherine
